Abstract
In the current highly technical world, economic development in emerging countries is closely tied to their abilities to compete internationally in technical products and services. A major key ingredient in providing the basis for such international competitiveness is development of a highly educated workforce in areas such as engineering and computer science. Thus the development and strengthening of engineering schools is a necessity in such countries - for quality education programs, research and development, and entrepreneurial spinoffs.
