Abstract :
CONTEXT: Most attention in engineering education in Russia is paid to engineering skills development. Engineering students are not always able to be flexible and non-standard thinking in contemporary economic risks. PURPOSE: To study a possibility of a new approach in engineering education with special attention to competitive skills development. APPROACH: To analyze personal characteristics of personal marketability of future engineers. ACTUAL OUTCOMES: Economic and psychological aspects of personal marketability in engineering students are revealed. They are discussed in context of Russian culture and proper socio-cultural and regional characteristics. CONCLUSIONS: Recommendations for personal marketability development are proposed. Special psychological trainings for development of achievement motivation, leadership potential, personal effectiveness and self-presentation have been developed.
