Abstract :
For the practical implementation of wavelength-division multiplexed passive optical networks, low-cost communication light sources are crucial. One of the possible ways to achieve a low-cost colorless optical network unit with seeding light requires the use of an injection-locked Fabry-Perot laser diode. We experimentally investigate the frequency response of an injection-locked Fabry-Perot laser diode for wavelength-division multiplexed passive optical networks. The results of the frequency analysis show an improved frequency response in the case of wavelength seeding in comparison with the free-run mode.
