Abstract :
We have shown that the spatial resolution of electroencephalography EEG, is as good or better than that of magnetoencephalography MEG. In addition, the instrumentation for EEG is at least an order of magnitude cheaper than that for MEG. The positioning of the MEG recording dewar is far more simple and fast than fixing the traditional EEG-electrodes. Furthermore the traditional EEG electrodes suffer from stability in long term recording sessions. With new smart electrode design the technical difficulties of traditional EEG electrodes may be avoided and the theoretical benefits of EEG may be fully utilized.
