Abstract
This paper presents the results from a real-time implementation and piloted evaluation of a fault tolerant flight control scheme, on a 6-DOF full flight simulator. The FTC scheme being evaluated is based on a robust ISM CA structure, designed around an LPV model of the system, in order to ensure wide coverage of the operating conditions. The proposed scheme has the ability to handle uncertainties and to operate in both fault-free and fault/failure conditions, without changing the structure of the controller. The results presented in this paper demonstrate the proposed controller implemented and flown in a motion flight simulator. The piloted evaluation also provides valuable feedback on the overall behaviour and design cycle from a professional operational point of view.
