  • Abstract
    Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is used to collect and send various kinds of messages from sensor nodes to a Base Station (BS). WSN consists of low-cost nodes with limited battery power. But the battery replacement is not easy for WSN with thousands of physically embedded nodes. Hence energy efficient routing protocol should be employed to offer a long network life time. To achieve the aim, it is not only required to minimize total energy consumption but also it is required to balance the WSN load. Researchers have proposed many energy efficient protocols such as Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH), Hybrid Energy Efficient Distributed (HEED), and Power Efficient Gathering Sensor Information System (PEGASIS). In this paper, the performance analysis of Self-Organized Tree-Based Energy-Balance routing protocol (STEB) is done by using MATLAB. In STEB, a routing tree is built using a process where, for each round, BS assigns a root node and broadcasts this selection to all sensor nodes. Subsequently, each node selects its parent by considering only itself and its neighbors´ information. Thus making STEB is considered to be a dynamic protocol. From the simulation result, it is observed that STEB protocol achieves better performance than the existing protocol.
