Abstract :
In this paper, a novel symmetric weighted thinned array with pattern reconfigurable antenna is proposed to achieve wide-angle scanning performance. By properly selecting the weighted function, excitation and states of each element, the array can scan its main beam form -77° to +77° with respect to broadside with side lobe level (SLL) almost -10dB below the maximum when scanning to the wide angle. And the 3dB beam width coverage is almost from -98° to +97° in H-plane.
