Abstract
The signature of heaps of debris surrounding damaged buildings pose the most promising signature for texture based damage detection in SAR imagery. However, the textural similarity to the signature of high vegetation turns out to be problematic. In this paper the differentiability of these two signature types is addressed by testing multiple texture features regarding their capability to distinguish between the two textures. Dealing with the limited number of debris samples additional simulated samples are used to ensure a large enough variation in types of debris.
