Abstract
The feasibility of single beam acoustic tweezers (SBAT) was first theoretically and experimentally demonstrated in our laboratory. Major efforts have been devoted to fabricate various types of SBATs and explore their applications. In the latest effort, the feasibility of in vivo application of SBAT was demonstrated by trapping microparticles in excised blood vessels in vitro. Besides, a novel method with better accuracy was applied to calibrate the trapping force of SBATs. Those recent advances in SBAT technology will be reported in this article and following by a discussion of potential biomedical applications of SBATs.
