Abstract
In recent years, there have happened lots of cascading trip-off failures of wind farm in China. These events had a great influence on the development of wind farm. Based on the actual wind farm clusters model in Ningxia, this paper makes a preliminary analysis on physical mechanism, and simulates the development process of the failures. Considering the dynamic reactive power supporting capabilities of wind turbines and reactive power compensators, this paper proposes an emergency control strategy. Under PSCAD, the strategy has been validated in a prototypical two-turbine system. Furthermore, based on actual reactive power control strategy, a preventive control strategy is given out to find the safe static voltage margin of wind farms, which can reduce the probability of trip-off failures.
