Abstract :
Stator winding inter-turn fault is a common fault in induction machines. Although various indicators have been proposed for detection of this fault in low-voltage induction machines, no comparison has been studied and there is no guide to industrial applications towards advanced health monitoring systems where failure prognosis is installed besides diagnosis. This paper sumarizes and analyzes various indicators for stator winding inter-turn fault detection in induction machines to fill up this gap. Since induction machines are complex multi-physics systems, the primary focus will be on fault indicators regarding physical model-based and signal-based methods. The survey compares different indicators, proposes suitable indicators and some recommendations for further work.
