Abstract :
Inappropriate understanding operating characteristics of active chilled beam systems is a critical barrier that stands in the way of the success. Taking a 2-way discharge active chilled beam terminal unit as an example, this paper reveals its operating characteristics unit under variable air volume mode. Based on an experimentally verified model, a series of realistic simulations are carried out. Besides the Total Cooling Output Capacity (TCOC), the reported performance parameters include the Sensible Heat Ratio (SHR) and the energy saving potential indexeε. Inherent correlations between these characters are illuminated. In addition, influences of different space conditions are studied. The results obtained here are expected to achieve a better understanding of the active chilled beam systems, so as to a better system design and operating and control strategy for improved indoor thermal environment.
