Abstract :
In this paper, we present a new model updating method for damped structural systems. The method has two distinguishing features which are of practical importance. First, it can deal with the spatially incomplete measured modal data without using any standard modal expansion or reduction techniques. Second, the updating is no spill-over which means that the large number unmeasured modal data of the original finite element model is kept invariant during the updating. A numerical example shows that the method is efficient.
