Abstract :
In order to determine actual condition of the cable systems and to determine their future performances, it is necessary to include the procedures for partial discharges (PD) measurements in addition to after-laying testing of new-installed high voltage (HV) power extruded cables. In this work primarily the need to test HV extruded cable systems on PD during after-laying test is considered. By simulation of two types of defects with contemporary software support COMSOL Mph inside the cable accessories, resulting as bad workmanship during installation and/or transport and storage, attempt is to justify the needs for PD measurements inclusion in actual standards concerning analyses of extruded cable systems (IEC 60840 and 62067).
