Abstract
Now a days mobile handsets support both mobile and wireless LAN services. So we have to design an antenna that supports both these services. The antenna supports the Wimax and wireless local area network (WLAN). The antenna also supports a low specific absorption rate (SAR). The antenna consists of a monopole, a meander line and metamaterial structure. To cover the low frequency bands meander line is used due to its compact size. The metamaterial structure used in this design is the Complementary split ring resonator(CSRR) which reduces the SAR values and covers the frequency range 3GHz to 4GHz.
