Abstract :
In this paper, an approach for passive steerable antenna design is presented. The co-axial feed square shape slotted patch antenna arrays mounted above a 3D EBG. Operating within the artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) region. A 3D EBG (3D-electromagnetic band gap structure) is exhibiting the property of AMC over a band of 50MHz (from 3.92GHz to 3.97GHz) with a center frequency of 3.95GHz. Beam steering is achievable by tuning the lumped capacitance in the structure of 3DEBG. A two dimensional beam steering of complete 46 degree (from -22 degree to +24 degree) is achieved. The results obtained in HFSS simulations software are presented.
