Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to analyze the energy efficiency of on-body communication between Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) nodes considering both line of sight and non-line of sight scenarios and to enhance the performance of on-body communication using thermal energy harvesting technique. A novel method has been considered to improve the performance of on-body communication by harvesting energy from ambient sources in and around the human body. Through analytical evaluations, it is observed that use of thermal energy harvesting results in transmission of a significant number of additional packets and enhancement of node life time.
