Abstract
The exponentially growing mobile data usage in recent years pushes the evolution of cellular network technologies to the 4th generation which is the Long Term Evolution (LTE) system. Providing good coverage for indoor users is essential for LTE system since it is estimated that indoor data traffic dominates nearly 80% of the total volume of data traffic. Fiber-based Distributed Antenna System (DAS) is expected to be a promising in-building solution for providing better coverage and higher capacity for indoor users than outdoor macro base stations. However, radio resource planning is more complicated for DAS in indoor environment than outdoor macro cell networks. In this paper, an UE-oriented frequency reuse scheme is proposed as an efficient frequency resource allocation solution for DAS at indoors. An experiment conducted in typical indoor environment confirms the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
