Abstract :
A dual-layer, reflective Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) is presented for wideband applications. Two patch type FSS screens with two closely spaced stop bands are coupled with a dielectric substrate to achieve transmission below -10 dB over 3“6 GHz. The proposed reflector can be used between a planar wideband antenna and nearby parallel conducting surfaces such as circuits or metal cases to prevent the antenna from impedance mismatch or electromagnetic interference. The proposed FSS provides a transmission bandwidth (-10 dB) of 72% and a linearly decreasing reflection phase over the band suitable for such applications.
