Mutual coupling compensation of a DBF receiver array

A novel online calibration procedure for DBF receiver arrays is proposed. External antennas feed the calibration signals into each receiver channel through near-field coupling. An additional reference receiver element tracks the changes of the calibration system. The essential elements of the coupling matrix are characterized, thus allowing to compensate deviations of the system. A three-patch antenna array is realized and measured to validate this novel calibration concept.
