Abstract
In a single channel full duplex (FD) wireless communication system, two nodes exchange information with each other in the same frequency band simultaneously, and thus, the receiver would suffer from large self-interference, which is caused by its own transmitter. Although recent results show that the self-interference can be cancelled up to 70 dB, the self-interference has still been seen as the bottleneck in the FD system. In this paper, a power allocation scheme using an iterative water-filling algorithm is proposed for the FD system, in order to achieve both the channel fading conditions match and large self-interference avoidance. Simulation results show that the water-filling scheme dramatically improves the capacity of the FD system, and the FD system can outperform the HD system even when the interference cancellation capability is limited.
