Abstract :
This paper describes a system using Kinect V2 sensor to score patient exercises automatically in hospital for self-rehabilitation purpose to reduce the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). The patient could perform shoulder/hip abduction exercises by lifting arm/leg to improve circulation at any time, even when the nursing staff is unavailable. The patient activities are represented by the features extracted from Kinect V2 skeletons. For the medical or surgery patients, Kinect could provide the following measurements: the amount of lift from left or right arm/leg, the range of the lift. The doctor or therapist could better understand the health status of the patient and provide the follow-up therapy. The ground truth is observed from the Kinect V2 depth sensor.
