Abstract :
Local government regards understanding of damage status as the most important in early stage of catastrophic disaster. Typical counter disaster headquarters (CDH) is performed with paper based map in order to deal geographic related tasks, included damage status indication. Modern counter disaster operation introduces disaster information GIS as one of powerful tool even usable in case of disaster, but almost GIS based method has limitation attributed to display resolution of display device and without consideration of multi-user use case. This paper describes a design for GIS based counter disaster information using ultra definition display environment from the point of view of human computer interaction method. Our system design provides common understanding of damage situation for counter disaster officers at CDH by even they work for different tasks, and enables to indicate situation in largely geospatial area at once. Our design considers multi-user interaction between counter-disaster officers located at counter disaster headquarters as well as using ultra high resolution display system such as tiled display wall systems. We also discuss how our proposal method provides multi-user and intuitive interaction for officers at CDH, we will suggest tablet devices have a possibility of it.
