Abstract
In this paper, the results of AC and DC breakdown tests on epoxy - cubic boron nitride composites are presented. The main goals are to investigate the influence of fill grade on the breakdown strength of composites and evaluate the influence of water uptake on their electrical performance. The results suggest that the performance of these composites exhibit a similar trend to other epoxy composites. Thus, a higher breakdown strength can be achieved at low filler concentrations. Furthermore, it seems that the uptake of water greatly affects the breakdown strength of composites, especially under DC stresses.
