  • Abstract
For small firms with limited human resources and financial capacities, the correct addressing of project costs may be critical to get commitments without risk of costs overflow. In the project evaluation phase, a tool able to estimate project risks and related extra cost may make the difference in term of profitability for the commitment acquired. Among engineering activities, environmental sustainability and safety may cover high level of importance, due to the possible prediction uncertainties. The present work aims to propose an analytical tool for risk estimation during job acquisition. After a decomposition of project evaluation, we give three possible dimensions of risk impact on project execution and its boundary conditions. The developed research methodology resulted in a system with a systematic, documented and periodic capacity estimation, making easier to control possible events which might affect project targets.
