Abstract :
Induction motors are the most widely used industrial workhorse due to the excellent reliability, high robustness, low cost and good efficiency. This paper presents a novel field oriented control approach of induction motors with applications in hybrid electric vehicles. The PID based controllers are developed for speed and current control loops using the symmetrical optimum method, which guarantees the maximum phase margin. The computer simulations are developed to model the three phase induction motor, design the electric drive and control system, which show the efficacy of the proposed approach in practical hybrid electrical propulsion systems.
