Abstract :
The portion of video traffic in the total amount of Internet traffic has been increased. As the number of users and volume of content are increased, the content providers had been suffered for processing and transferring media and they have adopt CDN technology into their service so that their burden can be alleviated. The CDN technology can be classified into three different types; `server farm CDN´, `peer assisted CDN´, and `grid farm CDN´. In server farm CDN, clients may experience large delay incurring low QoS if there is large geographical distance or low network capacity between client and CDN edge server. In order to overcome the problem, the server farm CDN with more CDN edge server locating near to clients had been proposed. The closed deployment of CDN edge server results in less delay and better QoS but the increased number of CDN edge servers introduces increased time to locate replicas. We studied how much the parameters determining the performance of P2P networking affect the server farm CDN with P2P networking among CDN edge servers, especially in locating replicas point of view.
