  • Abstract
    Privatization and liberalization processes established the business environment in Hungary where utilities operate. This environment is featured by real owner approach, decreasing sources and regulatory requirements getting stricter. Beside the external factors significant internal aspects play a part: for the sake of long term sustainability halting of the network aging is a critical task Further particular aspect is that many utilities have collected and managed technical, condition, event and work data in a structured way. By now these have reached the critical mass and quality that enable the use of these data in planning. Because of the large number of assets manual evaluation of these is not efficient. The usage of the decision support system can improve the efficiency that ensures a unified approach, a repeatable and automatic evaluation. Geometria developed a decision support system (DSS) for supporting capital maintenance program planning. This applies risk based approach and fuzzy logic for the evaluation of the asset risk The system is implemented at ELMÜ-ÉMÁSZ DSO (an RWE-EnBW affiliate, Budapest).
