Abstract
IP networks realized with E-bands radio links with capacity above 1Gbit/s are deployed in 3G and 4G mobile communication systems, Internet provider´s networks, as a protection or alternative to optical fiber. E-band radio links are susceptible to rain attenuation, which can cause outages that last usually several minutes, and can cause significant traffic loss. The fact that attenuation between links in the network is correlated could be exploited for optimization of traffic routing scheme in order to minimize losses. Complete methodology is explained on example network. The first step is interference analysis in E-band network in order to perform optimal frequency and polarization planning. The results of this analysis are fading margins, which are used as input parameters for routing scheme optimization in the network. As a protection mechanism in the network we propose backup routes. Its efficiency is tested by moving rain cell method. The final step is configuration of routers with MPLS-TE capabilities. It is shown that this methodology has advantage over traditional OSPF rerouting with constant link costs reverse proportional to its capacity.
