Abstract
In this work, the automation of effluent treatment plant is designed in order to treat the effluent water before its discharge. The waste water is treated so that it does not affect the environment because waste water consist of many toxic substance in it. Here the whole plant is monitored and controlled with the help of distributed control system. There are different units in this process such rapid mixing tank, coagulation process, flocculation process and then the floatation unit. Here we are going to simulate the effluent treatment plant with help of distributed control system software. The petroleum refinery uses large amount of water, at a same time more wastewater is produced so the effluent from various units are collected and then they are treated. the collected effluent is passed to a rapid mixing tank where the coagulation process is carried over and then to the floculation unit and here it is important to maintain the pH and then to the floatation unit i.e. dissolved air floatation unit where oil and water is separated and then lastly treated effluent is obtained and the quality of it should meet the regulation values. In this process various interlocks are written in a DCS software such that process runs continuously. Then graphical display of whole plant is designed.
