Raising safer internet awareness through a mobile application based on contrasting visual stories

The main goal of our work is to raise children´s awareness of the threats in relation to internet safety, in a pleasant way. A game-based self-discovering approach could help children understand all the problems that undermine safe internet access in a more engaging way than a censorious didactic lecturing approach. The purpose of our work was to design and test a mobile application with game features, limited text and short, contrasting, visual stories which will help students reach their own conclusions on internet safety and addiction. This application is suitable for elementary school students. The paper presents the application and the evaluation of the tool.
