Abstract
IEC SC 77C has been developing standards and reports dealing with the protection of the civil infrastructures against the threats of High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) and Intentional Electromagnetic Interference (IEMI) for more than 20 years. According to the rules of the IEC, these standards are horizontal and basic in nature and cannot deal directly with specific applications. As there are over 20 documents that have been produced over the years, this paper will provide an “outline” of how the standards can be used for application to the critical infrastructures.
