Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel single-stage DC-AC inverter suitable for supplying an automotive high-intensity-discharge (HID) headlamp with low-frequency square-wave sources in order to avoid acoustic resonance. The inverter integrates a dual-boost converter with coupled inductors and a voltage doubler, and a high-frequency/low-frequency square-wave driven full-bridge inverter, into a single-stage power conversion topology. This paper offers analysis of operational modes and experimental results for a prototype inverter circuit that provides a 35W load with a 12V-input DC voltage.
