Abstract :
When wireless sensor networks are adapted to mobile units, flexible and dynamic network topology should be realized because they are generally used to measure state quantity of fixed objects. ZigBee systems can be used to construct dynamic networks because they support multi-hop communication. A remote monitoring system using ZigBee devices has been developed to support the rescue operations in actual disaster areas or special places outside the scope of mobile phones. The system can trace rescue members´ actions and locations by combining some sensors such as IMU, GPS, and barometer, in order to help every member to communicate and enhance the security and work efficiency of rescue teams´ performances.
