Abstract :
In this paper, a novel probe-exciting feed structure was proposed for improving the bandwidth of a waveguide broad wall slot array antenna. Both a conventional inclined slot feed and the proposed one are applied to the design of the broad wall slot arrays with the same specification, respectively, and then, their results are compared by using the full-wave EM simulation. As expected, the bandwidth of the array with the proposed feed structure has been improved by about 15.3 % compared with that of the array with the conventional inclined slot feed. Also, it is shown that the proposed feed provides a better azimuth sidelobe level(SLL) by about 3.7 dB than the conventional one.
