Abstract :
This paper presents the development of a novel phased array antenna which is integrated with a series of parasitics to improve the beam steering resolution of the array. The array is based on a circular microstrip element. With the use of the parasitics, a steering range of ±15° is achieved for a specific phased array direction. This introduces a dual means of beam steering, namely wide angle steering using the phased array approach and fine angle steering using parasitics.
