Abstract :
It is recognized that car driving might have a bad influence to health, due to the lack of physical exercises, compared with the public transportation modes or active travel such as walking and cycling. However, car driving might be able to prevent a decline in physical ability, especially for aged people, since drivers are required to do physical reactions including recognition, judgement, and operation in order to drive the car. This study aims to investigate and find solutions to transport problems in super aging society. We analyzed the relationship between the driving conditions and the life satisfaction or physical activity as a preliminary study to reveal the anti-aging effect of car driving. As the conclusion, it is found that with the increase of driving frequency, the drivers have higher life satisfaction, and feel fewer burdens, since higher frequency of driving has a lower degradation effect of capability to process visual information.
