Abstract :
Fire incidents at distribution sub-stations (SS) with voltage level of 11-6.6/0.4 kV causes high sustainability impacts such as safety risk, heavy CO2 emission, damage of equipment and power interruption to consumers. Smart assets (Grid) are needed that provide information on their condition for monitoring. This paper illustrates Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) smart solution to mitigate the fire cases prior to taking place. The invented technology which called Smart Tripping System on LV Fire (STLF) will maximizes the reliability and the availability of the electricity network. STLF is one of DEWA´s innovative projects which has won many international and national Awards on year 2014 & 2015.
