  • Abstract
    This paper reports the basic analysis for constructing a method of estimating the one-way delays under delay asymmetry and unknown relative clock offset. This estimation method requires to perform a handshake by transmitting one packet along each of the two uni-directional paths. The sending and receiving times of a packet are measured at the sender and the receiver, respectively, according to the local clocks. It is a hard problem to calculate the one-way delays from the local time measurements under non-zero clock offset and asymmetric one-way delays. Our work establishes the basic structure for constructing a method for estimating the one-way delays under delay asymmetry and non-zero relative clock offset.
