  • Abstract
Circuit breaker is the most fundamental and complicated protection equipment. To understand the circuit breaker, it is necessary to understand the electrical arc inside of circuit breaker. Over the past decades, many researchers had been interested in arc behavior inside the circuit breaker. Many computational arc models have been developed and black box arc model is one of these arc models. In this paper, Cassie and Schwarz´s black box arc model was discussed to study circuit breaker simulation response. Using parameter sweep strategy, tendency of current and voltage wave form transition due to parameter change was verified. In this work using Matlab/ Simulink program, dc test bed was built and interruption simulation was performed. Fault duration, peak value and the wave form transition were discussed and we verified which black box model makes more agreement with the typical test diagram.
