  • Abstract
    In this paper, the design of high voltage vacuum interrupter (VI) is described and the basic test results of designed VI are summarized. In the case of dead-tank type vacuum circuit breaker (VCB), the electric field distortion inside of VI is affected by the earthed metal enclosure. Therefore, the earthed metal enclosure is included in the insulation design and the electric field analysis. The single-phase dead-tank type VCB unit is used to test the basic performances. To evaluate the current interrupting performance, the basic terminal fault test, short-line fault test, and capacitive current interrupting test are carried out according to the IEC 62271-100.
