Abstract :
In this paper, we treat the development of vacuum interrupter (VI) design tool including automatic geometry modeling in given parameter values, 3-dimensional electromagnetic calculation and analysis of the results for coil-shaped axial magnetic field (AMF) type VI. Coil radius, coil thickness, coil width and slit depth are adopted to the dominant design parameters. The effective current density, joule heating energy, and the phase difference between the current and magnetic field are used as the index of current interruption performance. Finally the optimization design is applied by using the sequential approximation method.
