Abstract
Change in urine color is due to several diseases or metabolic activity. Detection of the urine color change and diagnosis of the color change related diseases are performed at the hospitals after several comprehensive tests. In this study, a urine color detecting device, which can be used at home healthcare, has been developed. The device is equipped with a homogeneous light source and a power supply that supplies power to this source, a light intensity detecting sensor, a USB-to-Serial convertor module. The device is connected to a portable computer via this module and light intensity measurements are operated by a software run on the computer. Test performed using the device and real urine samples show that the device developed can provide quite beneficial urine color measurements in an accurate, reliable and sensitive manner.
