Abstract :
Reading has always been important in the context of foreign language teaching and learning. It is the basic competence for the acquisition of language knowledge and the improvement of listening, speaking, writing and translating abilities. With the wide application of computer and internet to the use of language education, “computer-assisted language learning (CALL) has become increasingly integrated into research and practice in general skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening...”[1]. As China´s national curriculum of College English Curriculum Requirements requires that college English should be computer and classroom-based and college students should be competent in using English in a well- rounded way and be able to study independently. Therefore the paper will aim at promoting students´ reading ability with means of computer and web-based language learning.
