Abstract :
The proponents developed a system for reducing third hand smoke by using an activated carbon filter in a controlled area. Third hand smoke refers to the hazardous gases such as: Carbon Monoxide, Butane, Benzene, and etc., that formed in air and surfaces after smoking. The system aimed to reduce these gases on indoor areas that remain on surface by means of air filtration. The system will activate once the gas detected is above the reference level of the gas detector. The moment the system is activated, it will start ingesting contaminated air passing through an air filter wherein poisonous gases will be adsorbed. The duration of air ingestion depends on the reference level of the gas detectors. The project can be used in the future research in indoor areas like smoking lounge, clubs, and bars, and other closed environment in which third hand smoke is present.
