Abstract
A 4×4 aperture-coupled water patch antenna array is proposed. The most difference between this water patch antenna array and traditional metallic patch antenna is that the radiation patch on top of substrate is replaced by pure water. The water antenna array uses H-shaped slot aperture coupled method to feed the structure. Simulation is conducted with a commercial solver and the results show that this water patch antenna array can obtain an impedance bandwidth of 21% from 2.13 to 2.63 GHz for SWR<; 2, a high gain up to 18.8 dBi and a good stable unidirectional and symmetric radiation pattern with low backlobe and cross-polarization level. The results prove that the water patch antenna may exhibit similar radiation performances and is able to achieve same functions across low frequency as the usual metallic microstrip antenna.
