Abstract
This paper presents a rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (RDRA) for ZigBee applications. In the antenna design, the resonator is fed by a coplanar waveguide and the resonator is placed above a RT 5880 substrate. The air space between the resonator and the substrate is optimized to adjust the antenna operation frequency and bandwidth. In addition, the measurement is carried out in the anechoic chamber to verify the simulation, and a well agreement is achieved. Furthermore, the RDRA is implemented and tested in a ZigBee system. The measured results show that the RDRA can significantly reduce the packet loss probability of the system.
