Abstract :
Numerical methods for analyzing electromagnetic (EM) interaction of composites materials with heterogeneous microstructures would lead to prohibitive computational time and memory capacity. In this paper, we propose to extend homogenization techniques to provide the effective permittivity of composite materials with different inclusion concentrations. An iterative procedure is employed, and also a modified characteristic size of the microstructure is presented to extend homogenization techniques´ validity to higher volume fraction. The effective properties can then be introduced in numerical simulations or analytical formulae to efficiently estimate the behavior of shielding effectiveness of composites.
