Abstract :
In this study, a portable and programmable transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation device providing a single channel and single-phase rectangular wave output has been developed. The device is equipped with a pair of carbon-rubber self-adhesive electrodes with a surface area of 5cm2. High amplitude stimulation pulses applied across the electrodes are produced by a transformer from the low-amplitude states. Select the desired frequency and notice period to the owners of single-phase stimulus of low amplitude waves where the software is produced by the microcontroller within the transformer driver circuit and the amplitude is set manually by using a variable resistor. The device provides wave outputs of 0-79 mA current range and 15Hz-250Hz frequency range. The device developed is operated with a 9V battery and offers a single-channel output. However, if required, it has a power socket allowing to connect to an external power adapter and it can be easily upgraded to provide two-channel outputs.
