Abstract
Clustering along with multi-hop routing has been considered an effective way to improve the lifespan of the overall wireless sensor network. In multi-hop routing, selection of relay is the primary aspect that defines the effectiveness of an alleged approach. Methods proposed earlier considered remaining energy, distance to the sink or both while selecting the relay node. But the problem with these approaches is that, one cant overlook energy part or distance part and at the same time the approach should be able to handle uncertainties. To overcome from such problem in this paper a new fuzzy-logic based relay selection scheme is proposed. It evaluates all the possible relays and selects the best node for relay considering nodes remaining energy and its distance to sink. This approach of ours is implemented and compared with LEACH. Simulation results show that the proposed approach performs better, in terms of lifetime and other metrics.
